[24 June] in the stakes. Drove along Central Marsh
road and found a flock of ca. 40 pectorals.
Collected 4. Also collected a golden plover
from a flock of 12. Placed the S.
Beach Ridge tanglefoots, then returned
to Beach Ridge crossing and stopped
to activate Bohnsack's pit-fall traps
there. Found and turned 19 of the
milk can type - the same as the
drum area set. Finally returned for
cocktail hour.
Set up a nest check system for
the banded birds nests. If people keep
the record we can get good data without
the need of systematic nest checking. If
not something else will have to be done.
In the evening went out in a cold,
wind and banded 3 more bairds, making
a total of 5 nests with 1 banded bird
(out of a total of 8 nests). The nest
worked without fail - 2 birds would
not get on the nest, but once sitting,
the bird is ours.
