After dinner rode into town
with John and Bill Beck. Edda and I
walked down Brownsville Ridge to
Village Ridge as rain started. Saw a
chase of 3 quillies and scattered red-backs.
1 bovid was displaying over Brownsville.
Near NBS encountered a dispersing
flock of Pectorals - they keep coming
in and offering hope - they are certainly
more abundant than '65 and '66. One
pair of Golden Plovers along Brownsville
Ridge. The rain was warm and
heavy for this time of year. At
midnight it was positively hot! Had to
take off my parka while walking.
Village lagoon outflow was highest this
year - snow must be melting rapidly.
There is still much of it out there -
ridges almost completely exposed; low
places wet and slushy messes.
Put in a work order for another
bank of berlese funnels, but I don't
expect prompt action.
