Maelsa 1967 Journal [10 June] now has 4 eggs. Found a 4 egg longspur nest. Shorebird activity was very low! Saw 2♀ pectorals near Micro Met; heard a red-back W. of there and a semi-pal near honeybucket lagoon — and that was all. P shot a pair of red backs as I walked down to get Karl to return for lunch. The absence of red-backs is puzzling; the others we can expect to see soon, but alpina should be here and active. It is still too early to panic, but it is disturbing. After lunch walked around Family Lagoon. The wind was biting, but above freezing. Britton's Area is nearly snow free .... and almost shorebird- free. 2 displaying♂ semi-pals and 1 ♂ red-back (presumably 3♂ around too). Flock of ca. 8 sandpipers feeding around melt pans in gravel at 5th Road Tnct. Continued S of FAA, where Karl joined me. Melt is advanced in the low polygon area there — polygon centers and troughs are flooded, the ridges exposed. Watched group of ca. 12 red pladamps feeding in flooded polygons. Group of 6 pectorals also feeding in the
