Maclean 1967 Journal stayed with softball! 2 August Barrow, Alaska Mutual back-scratching with Brewer - spent the morning touring Dr. Scholtes of N.I.H. and Dr. Atkins of Yale University Med School. Scholtes was involved in the N.I.H. sponsorship of the recent meeting in Fairbanks - hence the special treatment. Typical bird-watchers. [illegible] Warm day with South-wind, but few birds on the uplands. Plovers scattered; large flock of pectorals in the marsh. Delivered the bird-watchers to Birnirk after lunch to watch Eiders, and returned for tanglefoot change. Quick change at site [illegible], then to II where we tried vacuuming fixed areas for spiders, carabids, etc. Set some more can traps and took 8 500 cores by central Marsh tanglefoots and emergence traps. 8 more from Beach Ridge cross up. Just beyond, track slipped off of drive wheel so we walked in. Spend the evening holding my gas and passive gas, then walked out to Shooting Station. Several turnstones as well as Semipalm and red-backs
