25 July
Tide came in while we were South of
Wohlslag, raising the water to a dangerous
level. Had to go West, around Central
Marsh Creek, and in by Microvler. Few
birds in the Marsh; a few plowers and
red-backs along the ridge N. of the
fertilizer plot.
In the afternoon sloshed through
transects NE of So. Meadow Lakes and
Gasline Ridge. In the evening returned
to their area with Edna to complete
the transects there. Saw a small flock
of melanotes in ponds troughs on Gasline
Ridge; otherwise, all quiet.
26 July
Barrow, Alaska
More good weather to finish up
the transects. Dan and I are exhausted
and coming down with colds, but the
lines - 32 of them - are done. In
the morning went to Holmes' Morass.
Lots of alpina and Pluvialis there-
feeding along ridge and megictuma.
In the afternoon - 3 transects in
Central Marsh to finish up. Grabbed 16
soo cores from the Marsh, then collected
4 melanotes from a flock of about 30
feeding along the road. Spent the
evening passed our .... burqooo. 32 transect
