MacLean 1967 Journal 20 July] do it with an observer and a recorder. Saw very few birds. A very young juvenile peotral (?!) near Micro-ller, apparently lost or deserted and giving distress calls - a ♀ semi-pel harassing a passing long-tailed jaeger, a pair of parasitic jaegers in the distance, snarly at estrip a glaucous gull. Came to the lab in the evening to clean up specimens and other lab work in preparation for the big transect push beginning tomorrow. 21 July Barrow, Alaska Our for habitat transects while Tom checked trap lines. We worked Together from Family Lagoon to point B3, and then from B3 to B2. Discover that we could do it alone, so went from B2 to C2 while I walked around to Cake Ester area, fared Family Creek, and did C-3 to Family Lagoon to complete the B3-C3 km. Then Dan I converged from C2 and C3 to complete the square - 4 km. done in a morning. Missed our meeting point on the last km. by 1 (one) meter - amazing. Saw a flock of ca. 12 melanotos
