Red-shafted Flicker Colaptes cafer 4/13 1891 Apr. 15 Took a set of 6 today in Sycamore. Incub. begun. May 21 Took set 1/5. also found nest which contained y. Hal(?) Woodpecker. 1892 May 13 Took a set of 4 in bottoms. Nest 22 ft up in dead stump of oak(?) near top. 12 in. deep. Diam 4.75 in. Diam. of entrance 1.75 in. Eggs about size of Flickers But thicker & rounder. Bird; "Plain white stripe Black Jet. - wings xc." 1844. Feb. 17 Am (almost) sure that I heard one in Gage canal mill, bigaroy. Sounded like Strawberry.
