Warbling Vireo. 627 Vireo garrulus. 1894. Shot one July 30, in Strawberry Valley Ident.-C. K. except, white eye-ring instead of superciliary line and also at least one white wing bar. # 1465th July 31. found a nest 2.2 ft. up in an oak. Suspended from twigs like V. bellii pusillus but not so symmetrical, compact and neat. Fine grass fibres and a little wooly substance diam.outside 4 x 3, inside 2.60 depth outside 3.00 inside 1.75 inches. Contained 2 ygs. One dropped to the ground; old bird flew close to it and by passing from bush to bush led the young away from me. The fledg. is description of ? taken at the time: "White below, sides with yellow eye- ring white. above olive ye wings barred".
