96. 1894. Shinned my side after which I walked up the canon and shot a Ruby Cr Knglet my first record. So badly shot that that I could save only the pieces (# 178) Also killed a cotton-tail with 1/2 oz. No. 12's Then drove on to Peris getting there at dark. Had a big time and saw 20 spec. including C. Jay. Dec. 8. (Sat.) At 8 o'clock I shoulder- ed my gun and started down across Hewitt's, Caleffe &c. By the time I had reached Kirakp's it began to grow cloudy and when I reached the Brook it began to sprinkle. However, I began to scare up the coots and look for something new. Robins were never thicker before: in fact the grass all the way between the bank and the Brook below the dam was covered with them and the trees all
