one, somewhat cellu-
lar, cut showing
some petroleum which
gives it a brownish color.
It weathers ochrous.
2193. Impure limestone, Nia-
gara, Top stratum, 8 in.
thick. From below the mill

Elliston.
An impure granular
limestone; somewhat
cellular, dark brownish-
grey, somewhat mottled,
contains petroleum
the infiltration of which
gave the dark color to
the rock. Weathers fer-
ruginous.

Resembles preceding.
But is darker colored.
Contains petroleum &
some iron pyrites.

petroleum. Exterior
surface weathers ferru-
ginous.
2196. Impure limestone, Clinton
group? From the quarry
north of Rogersville,
a compact a fine
granular rock, semi-
fossiliferous, of an
olive grey color, in some
parts brownish. Con-
tains some iron pyrites.
2197. Limestone from below the
Canda-gallo grit at the
gap of the Canferus limestone.
a fine granular, brow-
nish grey rock, gives the
odor of petroleum when
heated, and probably con-
tains this mineral.
