"1056 May -9 -89 # 1058 A Lanesville, N.Y. Quarry back of Frank North's house one West side of valley. The rock in the lower part of the quarry is limestone, rather heavily colored. About 6ft thick 3 S.S. Upon the limestone is 2 Haley S.S. a thinly laminated stratum of sandy shale containing plant 1 limestone remains. Collected (a number, #2 is 3ft. thick May 10 and 11th rained continuously. May 13-89 Collected more fossils from F. North's quarry, and hunted up the locations of a number of other quarries in the vicinity. May 14 rained May 15-89 A.M. Ascertain height of F. North's quarry above the rail way sta. to be 40ft (by Locke). The quarry is on the N.W. side of the valley about N 40° W of the S.C.+C.M.R.R. Sta. The altitude A.T. is not given in Sammelto Dictionary of Alts. of N.A. Get: A.T. # 1352ft (R.R. Survey) 1058 B. 7 years old quarry on mountain in front of his house is 250ft/locke( above the R.R. Sta. It strikes about the middle of the high cliff 200ft above Frank North's quarry. On surface #4 flag 6'- of 2 thin fossils 3 flag 5-1/ fare found. 2 flag 3 1/- 1 flag 8f/-
