Jewett says Finley is rather "woody", often growlhy. He pretends to be poverty-stricken; but has recently inherited considerable fortune (interest in a successful undertaking concern) from his father; has no salaried position under either State or Federal Govt.; is a free-lance in all respects; hobby now conservation - in opposition to State Fish and Game Commission policies, and supporting the B. "Islands" cut off by division of the river. One of these = Sanvics Island, where is said to be northernmost representation of California Jay. Another, opposite Vancouver [= Fort Vancouver] in "Gov.
