- April 12 -
Today has been cloudy and
it is colder. The snow comes fainter
down on the mountains the farther
we go north. I saw several bald
eagles today and also a bird along
the shore which with the glasses
I took to be an oyster catcher. When
we came to Milbank Sound she caught
the ocean, or rather it caught us. I had
to go out on deck and walk to keep
my breakfast down. We are supposed
to get to Dixon entrance about 11 o'clock
tonight.
- April 13 -
We arrived at Ketchikan at 8:15
this morning and stayed there for
a couple of hours. We stopped at
Wrangel at 6 o'clock this evening
and at present (19 o'clock) we are
aground awaiting the rising tide
to float us off. We passed our
first iceberg at 7:30 this evening.
I saw several bald eagles today
beside scooters and what I think were
fish crows.
