-May 15-
Spent most of the morning chasing
a yellow billed loon around the
harbor. We couldn't make him dive
until he got good and ready. Some
times the bullets would almost hit
him but still he would not go down
so he stayed ahead of us all the time
In the afternoon I went upon the
hill to see if I could get a grouse
that was rooting. I found the tree
that he was in but that was as
near as I could get.
-May 16-
We went out after a loon this
morning and got one. It was just
the common loon but he led us
a good chase. Littlejohn kept putting
the bullets from the old Sharps
so close to his head every time it
came out of water that he soon
got winded and we got him. I
went up and dug out a chickadee
nest in the afternoon but it was
just ready. Got a grouse also.
