Stromatopor concetrica, 144 About 2 miles or a little more north of Chicago, and nearly 3 miles from Kenwick, a fine exposure is seen on the west bank of a stream flowing a considerable dis- tance west of the road, in W.D. Miles's farm. The Black Slate rests directly on the Clinton. The Clinton is 7 ft. 8 in. thick. The very fossiliferous layers oc- curro 3 to 4 inches beneath the Black shale. The Clinton includes: Ilalynus antignus, Phacops triculcatu. Calymene Nigarena. Plectamimites ele- gantula 83 Nebulites - like Faverno's large tubes, finely set. Halysites catenulatus Cyathophyllum Daytmense Tetradium occurs 3 to 4 feet below the Clinton. The typical Madison is im- mediately beneath. 145 At the written end of the (1060) W.D. Miles' farm, the Ls little stream just described enters a larger one, and at the same point a road comes in from the west. Just south of the road corner the Black shale rests directly on the Clin- ton. The Clinton is 5 ft 6 i thick. The top of the Ls is at (1060 - no reference point was taken) 146 About 2/3 of a mile south- ward, just before the road descends for the first time steeply into a stream bed, in an open field to the east, with considerable care the following section can be made out
