north of Chicago, and nearly
3 miles from Kenwick,
a fine exposure is seen
on the west bank of a stream
flowing a considerable dis-
tance west of the road, in
W.D. Miles's farm. The
Black Slate rests directly
on the Clinton. The Clinton
is 7 ft. 8 in. thick. The
very fossiliferous layers oc-
curro 3 to 4 inches beneath
the Black shale. The Clinton
includes: Ilalynus antignus,
Phacops triculcatu.

feet below the Clinton. The
typical Madison is im-

Ls little stream just described
enters a larger one, and
at the same point a road
comes in from the west.
Just south of the road
corner the Black shale
rests directly on the Clin-
ton. The Clinton is 5 ft 6 i
thick. The top of the Ls is
at (1060 - no reference point
was taken)
