MARION COUNTY. Ref. Pat. Lebanon - to - Chicago - to Rayville. 134 about a mile south of St. Mar (1065) ry's, the Black Shale rests in LS dark limer Coniferous with a few crinoid stems. In a field to the Southwest, grey densely crinoidal Con- iferous is found at a lower level. The Coniferous is about 5 feet thick and rests direct- ly on the Lower Silurian with Orthus bipunctata Orthis occidentalis. Columaria alveolata Fanistella stellata Lower Silurian (1065) no referent. 133 More end. Upper parts of Black Shale. 3. St. Mary's. 1113. R.R. level, may serve as reference point. 142 The road to Chicago from St Mary's follows the RR for about 1 1/2 miles, and take a directly westerly course. About 1/3 mile in this road the following section is well exposed.
