especially abundant near the top. Among others the following are found: Arthria occidentalis, Florinea demissa Other lamelli branches like those near Moreland, Murchisonia like those near Moreland, At least 13 feet of Devonian massive limestones with fossilifermo chert mod- ules overly these beds. The bed with large chert modules and irregular mas- ses of chert is great abun- dance is found imme- diately above. On the road to Carpenters station, a considerable distance south of this sec- tion, the brecciated bed is seen. A mile and a quarter south of the J.S. Underwood farm, where the road turns ab- ruptly eastward Fossilif- erous Lower Silurian is found in the creek. 43 On the high bank north west of the road angle the top of the Devonian is evidently well ex- pored. As seen from the road, the brecciated layer and thin bed with large chert modules and irregular masses of chert is judged to be in place. 224 Carpenter's Station, at Carpenter's station a road branches off from the Hustanville-Carpenters station road, and takes a northerly course before turning southwards. Along this road the Madism beds are well exposed. They are shaly. The overlying dark blue dense limestones are slightly exposed. The heavy masses of chert record a sufficient dis- tance above the Lower Silurian beds to leave plenty of room for the Devonian beds below the beds full of chert. Even the ordinary Devonian bed can tain considerable chert, it must be remembered.
