33. TRICHOGLOSSUS ORNATUS DEPLANCHIE :- (VERREAUX & DESMURAS) A.M.N.H. has. NINE (9) Wants. SIX (6) Exchange value. GOOD. Total Permit No. 10 No. for Burma. 2. Remarks. NO TICKS. (?) 6/3/39. One seen in captivity at timber cutters camp. 17/3/39. A small party of 4 seen in brief interval between showers. 1 shot + lost in forest. 22/3/39. One shot + lost in ground scrub. Generally seen in small parties. Feeding much at present of forest tube flowers. 24/3/39. A single bird heard calling. 27/3/39. One party seen, + single bird in flight. They appear to have gone further afield to feed on this fine morning 28/3/39. Several parties heard in flight. Seems less common here than Olymphericus. 30/3/39. Several heard in flight. Not very active. WALLU 3/5/39. 3 seen flying high. 4/3/39. 3 seen flying high calling. 10-20/5/39. Odd few seen on odd days, generally flying very high going places. 13/6/39. 2 seen + heard flying high, went inland, came along coast line. 14-17/6/39. Increasing in numbers. Especially so during last date when several mobs totaling 120 to 30 were seen + heard. All very restless + excited. 19/6/39. Numbers seen passing at great heights + calling. Not upset + rather silent when feeding today. feeding 20/6/39. Flocks of about 40 seen. 5 shot in bad country (mangroves) only, found. Shy wary.
