30/3/39. small flympleuis collected on 24th is definately a female of this species just past immaturity probably. A family party of 4. seen. 3 shot + other wounded. adult in shocking moult. 2 min. I believe by size. These bird were under observation for some time. Feed on seeds & berries of the second growth of forest. On alarm go high up in trees or to travel about travel in tree tops. Not as clumsy flier as lluea bird, Noticable they were present but not calling while sun was observed, but immediately it appeared they called much + became noisy & active, sun dissapeared they shut up again. Believe male adult did not return, female ad. returned to seek 2 min. which were shot. WAILO 16/5/39. Natives are positive about its appearance in this area when oranges are ripe but none have been seen or heard even though oranges are already ripe.
