To watch a group of large grey white near blue looking black headed, v was very large (at least 16"). We noticed some individuals with yellow bills which were begging for food although apparently full-grown. At this spot we also saw what was apparently 4 orange-fronted parakeets.
1 mi. further we saw another green heron and 5 more mi, a yellow cr. Night Heron (ad). 29 mi. S of (by rd) Escuinapa we began seeing Elegant Quail; we saw a pair at this point and also picked up a live leiostrisid of some sort. In the next 8 mi. we saw 4 more pairs of Elegant Quail, and shot 1 & at 21 mi. S (by rd.) Escuinapa, and also 1 And. Certhaca.
15 mi. from Escuinapa (S) we saw another jacana and a flock of parrots. 8 mi. S of Escuinapa we picked up a Heloderna DO R. 1 mi. N of Escuinapa we saw a Mex. Cormorant, and 13 mi. N we crossed over a large river. 6 mi. N of this river we saw 2 white-winged doves. 3 mi. further we saw another jacana and a flock of 12-15 black swifts. We continued to Magdalena where we arrived about dusk. We fed dinner then after checking the mercados and finding it in the process of closing. We continued N to Culiacan where we bought gas and drove about 1/2 mi. S and NNW on a dirt road where we threw out our sleeping bags for a few hours at about 0300.
