1 mi. beyond this point the road crosses the Rio Santiago.
10 migs N of the Rio we saw c DOR armadillo, 1 mi.
further we saw an oriole of the hooded type. I could see
the black throat patch & that the patches were brighter
orange than the belly; it was larger than an ordinary hooded
oriole. We also saw 2 juncos here which had
bluish wings & probably an orange forehead, & dark rattle.
Van Dammer - Ryeater. 26 mi. N of San Blas turnoff
we saw a Green Heron, & 2 mi. further there was a
DOR cat of some sort which was about the size of
crossed out dog a crossed out bobcat, had a black tail with whitish
rings, faint brown spots on a tan background. On the
stretch from 19 mi. N of Rio Santiago's to 25 mi. N we
saw 10 Jacanas. We also saw several more Mex. Cuckoo,
crowd of Ants, 5 grebes & close of Blue-black Grosbeak.
27 mi. N of Rio Santiago's we saw a Pch - killed (Burtonian
crossed out Ivory billed) Woodpecker. There were also fork-tailed
kingfishers all along the road. 38 mi. N Rio Santiago
we saw c meadowlark & 10 mi. further 2 Yellow winged
Caciques (we had been seeing many vultures, but since this
was the hottest part of the day, we didn't see any of the
vultures). 53 mi. N Rio Santiago's we found 2 large
iguana's DOR - we saved the smaller which was
in better shape. Another mi. down the road we stopped
