LIDICKER 1959 Journal the last, I set out 34 traps in the swammy areas, under stands etc., & also in the more open area over the road & including 4 sets for Citellus (by holes). At dusk we watched for frets. I heard a number go over high but didn't see any. A local resident told us that there were both jack-rabbits & cottontails in the area. Heard frogs calling from ford to W of camp. Ran trap line before going to bed, but caught nothing. Shot 1 Dipidhump anates. [crossed out text] Was quite a few night birds (C minor?) around at dusk. Was almost no rain during night. Slept until quite late. July 28 Picking traps, but reset 2 of the rat traps at better looking Citellus burrows & left out total of 4 rat-traps. Cotel: D. anates - 2 Heard meadowlarks singing, song sounded like they began with the W. song & ended with the E. Also saw a pair of Scalded Quail & heard a number of Bob-white calling. Slept early, packed up camp & left about 11/5. This camp was 2 mi. by rd. S of Los Canos & 13.8 mi. by rd. S of jet. with Calirillo rd. Ago., about ~5 mi. beyond this jet. In Aguas calientes we went to the post office, bought gas & then headed for Zuchecologas. About 1 mi. E of Despardicio we saw a grand squirrel run across the road which may have been C. rescarius or variegatus. 4 mi. W of
