July 27
Catch: Peromyscus maniculatus - 9
Bassonings - 4
Saginawus lepidorus - 1 (pair)
Dr of the fellows from La Labor brought us 2 pair specimens.
? Rattus rattus. We try to skin catch but
we were bothered so much by Mexicans that we quit
skinning & packed up camp & left about 1330. Nedd
shot a Monotes mexicana, a froggy owl, & a resident
? genus in this camp & saw several more hot-nuts.
On way back to Colilla we saw a number of
Cittellus variegatus along rock walls. About 4-1/2 mi.
north N of Colilla we saw a pair of Bist-white
Cross the road & Dave got them both with 1 shot.
We continued E toward Aguas calientes, then turned
S on the road to Villa Hidalgo & shot way
W of the city. We began checking for the estate
line & finally found it approximately (although there
was some disagreement among our informants). We
returned N until we were about 3 km. N of the
boundary & camped. This is an open area with
scattered shrubs & small trees & some prickly pear,
but with ground almost completely covered with
greass. We saw what must have been a Cittellus
sahelozona right near camp. After setting up

forgotten yesterday.
