Hepatic Tanager? - Dave saw a red bird in pine at distance.
Black-headed Grosbeak - few on higher slopes (Spain).
Lesser Goldfinch - few.
Prey finches - around.
Black-kested Siskin - 1 (NKJ)
5 Striped Sparrows (around).
Spotted Towhee - around.
Brown Towhee - 2 in meadows (NKJ).
House Finch - 3 (NKJ.)

Picked my traps. Castil: Rincon - Nestor mexicanus -1
Paromys dipillus - 9, 2 additional & lost 8
traps including 2 rat traps apparently to carnivores,
& at least 3 more traps apparently rolled by carnivores.
Hole Sugar-top spring & dragged, but nothing in it.
Other Barrassius set was untouched. While on hill
I saw a Thrush (same thrush call note) which acted like
a robin, but was white ventrally, had a white border to
the end of the tail + had dark markings of some kind on the
head. Also saw Rock Wren, Spotted Towhee, & head
Green-backed Quail. In 15-trap rocky slope drive camp I
had 10 P. dipillus. Checked other 3 carnivore sets &
troughs in both no.2 steel, leaving out only the #4
which had some of bait scattered. Shunned Nestor,
2 diff. + 2 Nestorina + a Sigriston J Davis No.2117
