Went up an open grassy hill at dusk to watch for bats At 2000 an Epileurus went our high but I saw it too late. This was the only bat I saw in spite of the fact that conditions seemed ideal - calm, not raining, & not too cold. Had late dinner, after which I took some more bait to one of my skunk sets. Dave went hunting in Pm & shot 1 Sylvilagus floridanus (near a rock wall up th canyon) & 1 Sciurus foliopus. On way up to set traps in late afternoon, picked up 2 rat traps set for Sigistda merinus. Both contained S. leucotis (#s 2104 & 2105). Were several rain showers during night. July 22 Picked up traps on mountain. Catch: Peromyscus diffiult - 16. Also picked up another one of those small hybrids, which was hopping almost on rocks. Lost 2 traps. Pleased a ? Preso's Quail on way up hill.
