LIDICKER 1959 was shot ? Rhoeo de, Virtue, & wattle as well as oak trees. I also set 1 trap at a bighole near the stream. Did some last-shooting along the base of the cliffs. I saw some Myotis-singed bats as well as Pipistrellus but only succeeded in wounding one of them. Aug 2 Caught my 5 Paronygenus (longii?) in my trap-line. Skinned these. After lunch walked over mile up canyon to 5 & camps (toward Carrs Condemne) to check new small caves for bats. The caves were both small & had no bats nor any bat sign. Was considerable wood rat sign, however (N. mexicana?). The walk up the canyon is through continuous scrub. Saw 2 great cat dars (shot 1), Blk headed Grosbeak-dar, Bush-tit, Ladder-lt. Woodpecker, W. Paver, mex Jays, Curve-bll Thrasher & Brown Thrasher. Also saw a Saybreilgus and ½ mi up from mouth of canyon which looked like S. floridanus. This is about the area where Starker saw a collared which he thought was floridanus. At mouth of canyon I saw & shot a Dendroica nigrescens. Were also saw Mockingbird & Curve-bll Thrasher around the same area. Skinned 2 birds before dinner. After dinner I set 50 traps on rocky slope NE of camp for Paronygenus. There was also a small unit of Newtons signs under some large boulders. Caught a Thamophila
