spectabilis boards along the road. Then
I set 44 traps - about spacing traps well to
Dave set 46. We saw a Blk. H. Jack roll it
while setting traps. Wal had seen another cat
in morning while we were picking my traps.
On way back to camp, Dave & I saw a small
animal run across the road which we thought might
have been a Baronisus.
July 5
checked traps: We had 2 Neotoma (lepida?) +
1 Onychomys in the 5 Schyzans. We also found
a D. spectabilis DOB which was in good condition.
In my traps I had 2 P. maniculatus, 1 Onychomys,
1 D. ordii, + 1 Parryothus flavus. Dave had
1 Reithrodontomy (large sp.), 1 Parryothus hispidus,
1 P. maniculatus, 1 Onychomys, 1 Squirrel + a
Neotoma (lepida.) caught in a spectabilis
board. This makes a total of 4 of the Neotoma
which we took from spectabilis boards with no
sign of a "wood- rat-nest". Shot another
Aerothile along trap line + a pair Kernal lark.
On way back to camp we stopped to look for tracks
at the spot where we had seen the Baronius-like
animal last night. Could find nothing suggestive.
My gopher set was plugged again (also last night).
Skinned animal. Rechecked gopher set in late
afternoon + finally had goph. Also shot a Eutanaia
