LIDICKER
1959
20.
July 2, recognized lunnus. Picked up 46 traps i grass
and set them 37 from canyon. After dinner Stokes,
Ward, Dene & myself drove about 1 1/2 mi. down
the canyon to beyond it with a scat trap. I set
50 in Opuntia thickets, open areas, & brushy area.
After dark caught 3 Bufo around camp & near
many more. Caught 2 individuals I wished for
Arbacia Elephantasterias. They were calling mainly
from cliffs above our water hole but a few had moved
down to grade. I got 1 by sitting close to where I was
calling & holding a Bufo in my hand which was
calling away & apparently stimulated the other to
call. The second one called from the edge of the
small pond at the base of the cliff. Others got 3
more. Ward shot a Otus trichopsis after dark.
