LIDICKER
1959
saw the north of the canyon & got 1 Barings, 1
Reuthro, 1 Signatum, 1 Perognathus flavus, & 2
D. ordii. Had more heavy rain in early evening.
Caught 3 Burps after dark, one in tent, & Ward caught
a Scaphiopus. Set out 37 traps in greeny or brushy
area down 1/2 mi down canyon. This included 4 rat traps
set for Signatum in fresh-looking runs. Relented 46
traps in greeny oak choke canop, & relented 5 rat traps
around camp for lifers. Also got a large T Citellus
norvegicus in steel trap set along draw. Was
small amt. of rain during night.
July 2
Had only 1 Signatum remaining - traps down canyon,
nothing - traps in oak-grass. Ranzofer sets & had no
goofers; picked up 2 of the 4 sets & make a new set.
Apparently the rain had stimulated the goofers around
camp & nearer to the canyons to work on their
damours so there was clot of fresh goofier brands around
camp. Ward made 8 sets & caught 7 goofies in short order.
He also got 3 Signatum in his traps down the canyon.
I caught a goofie - my new set. When we were
eating breakfast a Yellowthroat was singing near camp
& Ward finally shot it. Caught a Thamnophilus along the
edge of the canyon while eating breakfast. Skinned
animals. About 1430 Student & Lange arrived back
in camp from their 2 day jaunt into Lidicker City.
Set another steel trap along the levee at the north
