George went with them. I set out 7 new gopher sets + 3 small steel for C.variegatus. Set out 46 trips on gravel slope above camp with glass & small oaks. Checked gopher traps + steels. Hit 1 gopher + 1 C.variegatus. Relined 35 traps on levee + 3 rat traps on flat. Reset 3 rat traps in new locations for dipsos, one left struck during night. Caught a small UTE in a rock along canyon wall while setting traps. Saw 25 colugans in camp during afternoon. Ward got 1 with his slingshot & the other got away. Set 1 new gopher set at luck. July 1 CATCH: 1 Prosynethus (Electrohips) along levee + 1 otter on grass-oak flat which was hot as briskly into water + with a broken tail - so described. Picked up all remaining sets of my original gopher sets & checked new sets; led 3 more gophers leaving 4 sets out. Also caught an old & Onychomys in 1 gopher set. It was caught by the skin on the ventral side of the rock & was alive. Shot a ? Hopistic Tanager, shrimped animals + led about 1 1/2" from in afternoon. Heard a Bufo call shortly thereafter (~1630). Ward had set out a trap line
