After picking traps in AM, I made 2 steel sets (#1)
for skunks along the canyon wall using bird carcass
+ 1/2 a rabbit carcass for bait. Also set one new
set trap for Neotoma - rocks on way back to
comfort bunk saw car, bats, a javy-will, & a pair
of white-tailed jack around Preista. Finished setting
jack rabbit after dark.

Checked traps; caught 2 Neotoma albivola from
nyssca thicket sets - left out 4 constructed sets where
1 was one. Caught nothing in bottom of canyon & only
1 Eutamias from bunch grass line which I then picked
up. Nothing in skunk sets or other Neotoma traps;
also nothing in 4 Squirrels-traps in grass. Set 2
gopher traps near nyssca's end of canyon. Flushed 2
& Meari's Quail together - encircled. They gave "mewy"
call as they flew away. This is the area where Ward
had shot car. & & + there may be 2 "wildcat" ??.
Skinned catch, strung up 2 drops of skulls to dry,
& dug new garbage pit (with George). Had 3 brief
showers around noon. After lunch, I went with Leopold
& Ward to jack in a fresh white-tail which Ward
shot in the canyon near the cabin. After returning
I skinned a Dryocopus for Dave & caught up on note
writing. Set steel trap (#1) for C. variegatus at end
of new line in bottom of canyon in AM. Set out
10 mus, 5 pec. along like at Preista in bread for
