LIDICKER 1959 4 trips to canyon to bait traps. Shot a Sylviolaegus floridanus (WZ #1845) in bottom of canyon. Heard whip-poor-will & saw & heard Pos-sums. Had trap snap, but didn't catch anything. Shot a large bat which was flying high down the canyon (first Eptesicus), but it circled down into some trees & I lost it. Saw several more. ABA shot an Eptesicus in canyon at about same time. He also got a Flammulated Scrub Owl & a Corn. Scrub Owl. June 21 Nothing is still sets, but Ward & Studer had a bobcat apparently killed the last (carding) from their first lion set! Caught 1 Baird's in small brush pile in bunch grass along slope & 3 Paroquema longi (?) in Carothus thicket in bottom of canyon. Saw a Sylviolaegus floridanus & sav. chipmunks & a Citellus variegatus. Also saw BLK. Lined Swallow, Solitary Vares, Sclater's Chickadee, Hepatic Towner, etc. After getting back to camp skinned Kaithen & then about 09:15 Dave, George, & I took truck & went for water at Sunday's well. Saw 4 Citellus spilonoma but couldn't get any. Shot 8 Horned Laks (I took 3) & saw many more. After lunch skinned cat. After dinner relaid 26 traps in Carothus thicket - canyon bottom, set 4 Snyder - traps near canyon rim & 5 Newtown sets. Set 30 Mus. Spee. in bunch grass along canyon wall, I saw Newtown set along rock outcropping & 5 Newtown sets
