Saw 1 small horn running through grass. Got
back to frents at dusk; Ward & Starter had string
2 Ant nets along side of the frents. Q shot 1 F
Eptesimus fuscus (1 shot).
June 20
Checked traps + picked up traps in rocky edge near
5 Newton nets. Catch: Peromyscus boylii (?) - 2
Peromyscus mexicanus - 4
Neithothomp negalotis - 1
(in trap new when I had seen small horn run late before)
Newton mexicana - 2
Shot 1 Turdus migratorius (F with broad peak).
Saw a cotton tail among yuccas on top of ridge, but
wouldn't able to get a shot at it. On canyon watched
pair of Empidonax fuliginosus + pair of Brown-headed
Cowbirds; 3 large ant trophies of 26 traps in
Chamathus thicket in bottom of canyon (did not bait
traps). Also set 3 more Newton traps along with
out cropping on latter edge of canyon. Skinned catch
+ Eptesimus from last night. Ward & Starter found
fresh lion signs in the canyon & made 4 steel sets
for them. Nothing was caught in other nets. Ward
shot a Trogon caligera + Starter got amazed - trogon,
RM shot at, but didn't get another turkey, he got
Canyon Wm + saw Wh. H.'s wife. Both Stark & Ward
saw Badger signs. After dinner went back to
