DICKER 1959 until dinner time. Ward caught - T. Vulture in "coyote set" by precipice in PM. Went back to canyon after dinner to set traps. Set 31 along rock outcropping on S side of canyon--including 4 Schuyler sets for Newtown. Also found a small area with runways in grass just S ledge of canyon. Set 7 Mus. Spr. here. Reset 25+8 traps left out from last night. Had - large Scolopax (fogette) in one of the set traps. AHM shot a heavy bat over the precipice at dusk. June 19 Ward had coyote in steel set by precipice, nothing in other carnivore sets. Picked up traps on flat. Caught only 2 D. ordii. Checked + left out 31 traps on edge of canyon. took only 1 Newtown from them; set traps had been spring + 1 disaffended. Shot 1 Eutornis + another Squirrelus floridensis. Also got a Entilboraz fuliginosa + c 7 red-headed Grosbeak. Stalked lots of Robin but could not get within .38 range. Also heard Hegetic Tanner in canyon & Scott's Oriole around camp. Nothing in 9 traps set for Squirrelus in runways. AHM got par. of Evening Grosbeaks + found bear droppings again. Logwood found a lion track in the bottom of the canyon. Skinned catch in time to write notes before dinner. Reset traps on canyon wall + 7 in grassy runway. The set 4 more traps for Newtowns + 26 traps in bunch.
