similar habitat, but al. higher up the slope & somewhat greener - with many burrows etc. Saw fresh deer sign in 2 places today on trails leading from fresita to hills to N. Checked coyote sets: rds. Went back shooting at buck with Bryan around fresita. He shot 1 Myotis + 2 collected a small hyrax. There were at least 2 signs of hawks coming in to water. Word reset "coyote set" & set 2 new sets with #2 steel for bobcats.
June 18
Checked traps & picked up all but 25 newly set ones, 2 rod traps set for Necturus, 3 net traps set for Dippers + 2 net traps + a Mus. spec. set for Sigmodon. Catch: 1 D. ordii. Checked coyote trap - none. Saw Road Runner, Skinned ordii & Myotis shot by Bryan last night. Must 0800 set out for main canyon to N of camp. In canyon shot a Sylvilagus floridanus, 1 Eunomus gloriosis, a whip-poor-will & a Western Wood Pewee. Also saw Hepatic Tarager, Pygmy Nuthatch, Sclateria chelidura, Stellar's Jay, Arizona Jay, Acorn Woodpecker, Hairy Woodpecker, W. Wood Pewee [illegible] Kingbird, myiarchus, Red-t. Hawk, T. Vulture, etc. Returned to camp about 1130t saw Sparrow Hawk over fresita. Had pleasant visit with Don Raman & the lunch. Skinned rest of catch
