green probably as a result of last summer's
heavy rains. Arrived at Santa Rita Motel N W
town ~ 1930 + bed swim.
June 13
Spent most of day in Chihuahua stopping, changing
money, getting haircut, etc.. Met J.S. Baldwinton
(1005 Calle 14) + also went to Sefior Garcia's
house + saw the 2 grizzly bears which he shot
in the Sierra del Nido. Had late lunch back at
motel after a swim. A.H. Miller arrived by plane
~ 7:00 so we went to dinner at Hotel Victoria in
Chihuahua to celebrate.
June 14
Left Santa Rita Motel 0605; had breakfast in
drive a few miles to north. 18 mi. S of aduana
station we stopped at a small presa which
had 10 Baldpate on it. Ward + Starker each shot
one (they both were thin + had very worn plumage).
Also saw a black-tailed jack at this spot. At 2
mi. S of aduana sta., we noticed a W. Meadowlark
+ a Skrike. At the aduana station we turned
W. on a dirt road toward Sierra Nido + Sierra
Santa Clara. After just a few miles we began
