Lindsay, Calif. to have lunch with Words & aunt's 1155. Arrived in Needles ~2215; checked into El Ranchos Motel & had swim before going to bed. Bryan arrived in his own car ~2400. June 11 Av. Needles 0700 after breakfast. So US65 to Vidal Jet. -> Eosp -> Wickenburg, Phoenix, Globe, to Lordsburg & finally Deming. Was very hot day. Checked into Plainsman Motel. June 12 Up at 0500, breakfast in Deming; continued E. Larra desert starts rather suddenly ~9 mi. W Las Cruces W of this point the were resquite thickets mainly soil also seem to get more gravel at this joint. S of Las Cruces saw a hawk with white rump, white wing lining with dark tips (possibly & marsh hawk). At Anthony saw 1 Marsh Hawk. Av. El Paso ~0830.
