LIDICKEN 195-9 (April 4 cont.) Manginite zone. Saw a Sylviapis bichroni DOR 3.9 mi. E San Pasqual + 2 C. brecheyi 1.6 mi. E San Pasqual. Continued W on 78 to jct with US 101. Just E of this jct we stopped to look at some birds in a slough along the road, which had this clump of Scirpus. Birds seen: Shoveler - 400 + Ruddy Duck - 250 + Tree Swallow - 1 Coot - 70 Barn Swallow - 6 + Pied bt. Snake - 10 + Cliff Swallow - 120 + Eared Grebe - 40 + L.W. Marsh Wren - 15 + Green Heron - 1 Killdeer - 5 + Bufflehead - 6 + Song Sparrow - 5 + R. ft. Bull - 2+ R.W. Swallow - 10 + Corviant (unident.) - 4 Corn. Tern - 1 Dartchen - 1 2nd Yellowlegs - 1 Redwing - 2+ Mallard 11 (1 ft. copul.) marshland - + Stopped briefly at San Clemente StPk + continued N toward L.A. Turned N on Calif. 39 for alt. 101 + joined 101 which we took to US 99 which we followed to Bakersfield + jct. with US 466; west on 466 to Calif. 33 j north ~ 10 mi. before camping. April 5 Continued N on Calif 33 - breakfast + Colmigua.
