LIDICKER
1959
April 3
Catch: Diglossa baritula - w2l-4
NIC-9 / total 13
It was very hot & toward mid morning we accidentally flushed a Golden-eye from the small unit.
I shook on the opposite side near from which it flew off toward the NW.
We were shooting. Before breaking camp at 1230 we shot a jolly bird with brown spots. Sev. Umas were seen, but none were collected. We returned to highway & continued North. As we approached the Sierra Prieta we noticed that not only did the soil get more gravelly, but it also [illegible] that the gravel got looser (sand below). The Lavera became more numerous & were very green & blooming profusely.
On the northern parts of the Sc. Prieta we noticed many gounds of a Cucurbitid & chivey lanterns growing in low places along roadside. At a point about 11.4 mi. S [illegible] beginning of Laguna Salada it appears that dips access to the east side of the Sierra Prieta ends.
[illegible]
On the north end of the Sc. Prieta is a large sand dune area which has small normal sign in & looks very interesting. We stopped & filled some bags with sand. Birds seen along Laguna Salada:
Aher Egret - 2ev
Snowy Egret - 25+
S. w. Teal - num., but not quite strong as on Mar.31.
