(Mar. 29 cont.) belly patches) was doing "push-ups" on rock + several times ducked behind the rock curling head to one side as if hiding, & then looked up again. Another individual on an adjacent rock (but not facing above individual) was also doing push-up, but had some streaks on throat + no yellow w blue (?) Visited friends in Santa Monica from about 1430 to about 1730. Continued S on alt. 101 + camped sev. miles E of Solana Beach on rd going to Encinitas. Mar. 30 After breakfast - San Diego we continued to Tijuana & crossed over border without any trouble or delay. Went E on highway 2 toward Mexicali. 14.3 mi. W (by rd.) Rumorosa is a place called La Hechicera. The country gradually rises to the E + the first pines start at about 9 mi. W Rumorosa. Pines are scattered & not large. Much of the area is burned over. The pines get thicker toward Rumorosa but nowhere form a thick forest. 0.9 mi. W Rumorosa is a "town" called Est. Alaska. We went a short distance beyond Rumorosa to where we could see the desert & + then turned around + went 16.2 mi. by rd. W Rumorosa where we set up camp (13 mi. W, 1 mi. N Rumorosa).
