Liomya - 1 (Lady & Shelly are in bottom)
Shot a Cremidophorus around camp. After skinning
Naomi & I drove the car to La Palma: 1.4 mi. off
Arroyo Soto turnoff to S for .5 mi to La Palma.
Here we parked the wagon & walked 5 out of town.
We continued S 40 min. or more. Collected
a Cremidophorus about 1 mi. S La Palma, 13 mi
NE Jalpa, Zac. We talked to a number of local
residents in this area & none of them knew of any
cave nearby although a couple thought there
might be some much further to the S in the
mountains - which could be seen but were much
further than an afternoon walk away. We returned
to camp & then walked to Arroyo Soto for a
lunch. Earlier another fellow named A. Soto
stopped in a blue pickup & chatted. He had
lived in Brawley, Calif., & + knew some
English. He now lived in Coliillo. Set
out 30 trips in canyon & along slopes: 15 trips
along a rock wall; 1 set trip by a fresh
looking hole along a path; 35 additional trips
in the canyon but those mostly in tropical area
with lush vegetation; 1 trap by dips looking hole on
grossy flat; + finally 20 traps on dry gravelly
hillside with some yuccas. Total. traps = 102.
Did not see any bats in evening. Saw 1
Catellus variegatus along edge of canyon in afternoon.
