LIDICKEN 1958 (July 11 cont.) Catch ? Ctenodactylus & 1 Sceloporus. Set out 51 traps in open area of mesquite & grass; 34 traps in heavy bunch grass & th brushy border of a shallow ditch; 13 traps on a relatively open dike with moderate no. of holes, etc.; 15 traps in grass & brush along dike; & 16 traps along an open dike with some bunch grass. Total traps = 129. Went looking after dark & caught 1 Rana; heard Microhyla July 12 Catch: Perognathus - 1 (in 51 traps in mesquite) (½ mi. S, ¼ mi. E Rincon de Ramos). We left out 1 rat trap for ground squirrel but didn't get any. Skinned the 1 mouse & the golden for woodpecker shot evening before. Peter saw Derby Flycatcher twice & I heard him once yesterday; (other) Picked up a Kinosternon in the clover by irrigation camp & looked for Agassiziensis. 2.6 mi. S of ditch, saw B. jet, with main rd. is turn of Salitillo (sp?). 2.5 mi further is Pabellon de Hidalgo & a road leading W to some low hills. 3/4 mi further is paved rd. going E, gravel rd. going W; 5 mi, further is San Francisco. 2.2 mi. S San Francisco we noticed a deceptively looking spot that may be good for dipsos. Beginning 3.5 mi. N of the Loreto rd. Turnoff & stretching for .7 mi is another area that may be good dipso habitat.
