Paromyscus - 1
"timber" like hill - Dipodomys ornatus - 1
Paromyscus - 1
After skinning, Naomi + I explored a large
number of abandoned mine shafts in the area
including some very large ones on the slopes
quite high above San Pedro. From this vantage
point you get the impression that the highest peak
in the area isn't too much higher. We saw only
2 Coryphorhinus townsendii + collected one of
these. Birds noted: Flicker, Atk. Goldfinch,
Prairie Falcon, Scrub Dove (PM), Wkt. w.
Dove (PM) + resident small dove (WL).
We reset the stakes + rat traps on "timber" hill +
set 49 more traps there, we also made 3 wood set
sets. Then we set 26 traps in a beavertail +
rabine thicket N of camp + 29 mus. spec. +
[illegible] on the dry slopes below camp. We
were hoping to get some more D. ornatus.
In
addition we had 3 Newton's sets in the
more vegetated bottom of the gully + we reset
the 1 rat trap behind Camp. Total traps = 115.
Saw a few bats in evening but wasn't able to
get any.
