LIDICKER 1958 one trip was missing. Set 48 traps for meriain + along a weedy shallow ditch. Saw 1 Skylagz. Only birds noticed here were Desert Sparrow, Shrike, + Raven. July 7 Catch: (picked up all trips) Dipodomys merriami -4 "spectabilis -1 Perognathus sp. -2 Citellus -1 ad. Paromyscus maniculatus -1 Skinned animals + then broke camp, continued 5. It looks as if merriami may continue W to set 1 mi E of jet, with main rd. Then it no longer looks like merriami habitat until 6.7 mi. 5 of the jet. When for 1 mi. it looks like possibly merriami habitat. Beyond this it is too grassy with much cultivation. On this area there is a large Joshua tree-like yucca which is very tree like. 2.3 mi. S of Calera de Victor Rosales there is possibly some merriami habitat in a few open places, but is not too good. At Morelos (8 mi. beyond Calera de V.R.) there is a good side road goning E. 6.7 mi further is the region of Jesus de Garcia Salivos there are rolling hills with much gravel but it is conceivable that merriami could be here.
