like a large cave in the hills N to the south,
so we stopped & walked over to, but it
proved to only a small cuevita with a man
camped in it. We continued E. In the
area along Gran Morelos the way is real
desertty (Ocotillo, etc.) & meriaini is
undoubtedly here. Saw a rock squirrel
in vicinity of General Frias. In Chihuahua
city we turned S. Between Bachimba &
Meoquin we saw 2 Mallards in irrigation
litch. We stopped to camp that night 15 mi.
N Cd. Camargo (15.4 m. by rd. N Cd.C. +.4 mi. E).
We set out 96 traps in the desert. Caught
a fledged Roadrunner which Peter spotted
"freezing" in a mesquite. Had intermittent
rain all evening. Heard coyotes in evening.
