LIDICKER 1958 (June 19 cont.) to ~ 5000 ft - Buddles, mosquito - not good hermiain habitat, but possibly on a farm. The th rd. descends st. wit mosquite, yucca + grass desert. About 10 mi. W Wilcox ca see huge valley to SE; the begin to descend further it large valley to E, 2 mi. W Wilcox - gives plain with some shrubs + yuccas . It looks like good hermiain habitat just W [illegible] Do Cabezos wit mosquite climbs with many canyons, etc. We turned SE at W illeox turned Do Cabezos + Portal. 5 mi. E of Do Cabezos we saw [illegible] 3-4 juns, Citellus sppilosoma . Also along this stretch we saw lots of horned larks, sev. skates + murres spectabilis - moths, a few scoter moths on oak, winter held our & large turkey today spinned on across road. A little higher we saw another which looked like Sciurus argores . After lunch away from farm - saw 1 Myarchus sp. Continued our int. to SW. Ranch Stn. Spent night here June 20 Around camp saw 1 chipmunk, Vires solitaria another small sk., sk. card Sppilogenys + 4+ Wh. W. Nuthatch. Left Stn. & continued E. 2 mi. of Portal is mud grass, short mosquite + agave. Saw 2 Sppilogenys which looked like auduboni Ran into moderate pairs or desert's E of Portal. Once on US 80 we felt heavy rains. Az
