LIDICKER 1958 (April 5 cont.) road goes up into brush covered low hills; the brush is quite thick, but conceivably this could be dipso habitat. 16.3 mi N of the jet 91 goes up into a 2nd group of low hills. Here the brush is lower than scattered and this is probably better dipso habitat; there is considerable grass however. At [illegible] mi. 38.9 mi. N of jet. rd. descends into a lower valley. Took US 60 W out of Riverside & jet. with US 99 in Los Angeles. We took this N. The road detoured thru Newhall because of a 5'ft. deep mud slide on 99. We spent the night just S of Bakersfield. Rainfall had a wind blew hard that night. April 6 Continued to Berkeley via US 99, Calif 132, Calif. 33, US 50, Calif. 21 & finally 24. Arr. Berkeley at 1552. Traveled total of 1710 mi.
