LIDICKER
1958
(April 5 cont.)
road goes up into brush covered low hills; the
brush is quite thick, but conceivably this
could be dipso habitat. 16.3 mi N of the jet 91
goes up into a 2nd group of low hills. Here the brush
is lower than scattered and this is probably better
dipso habitat; there is considerable grass however.
At [illegible] mi. 38.9 mi. N of jet. rd. descends into a
lower valley. Took US 60 W out of Riverside
& jet. with US 99 in Los Angeles. We took this
N. The road detoured thru Newhall because of
a 5'ft. deep mud slide on 99. We spent the night
just S of Bakersfield. Rainfall had a wind
blew hard that night.
April 6
Continued to Berkeley via US 99, Calif 132,
Calif. 33, US 50, Calif. 21 & finally 24. Arr.
Berkeley at 1552. Traveled total of 1710 mi.
