(Mar. 31 cont.) Borrego + Borrego Springs camp ground looking for Marler & party. We find their trailer, but not them, so we left & returned to Borrego, then we took the rd. SE out of Borrego down the valley. At the jet with Calif 78 we turned W toward San Felipe Narrows. About 1 1/2 mi. W of jet. we noticed that the hills directly to the S might support merriami. 5 1/2 mi. W of jet. however, we could see another small valley to the south (prob. behind Pond Granite Hill) & beyond this to the south were tall pines which seemed to have forested tops. The Narrows themselves did not seem to represent an effective barrier to merriami. So was 9.1 mi. from jet. with 78 to jet. with Yaguri Pass Rd. on W side of Narrows. We turned down the dirt rd. to Yaguri Well & went 2/10 mi. beyond Yaguri Well & camped. We set out 70 traps in the surrounding washes & on the gravelly hillsides. Rained -little- during night & was also quite windy. April 1 Catch: Perognathus - 6 dead, 1 alive (died later) + 1 tail-tips Perognathus - 1 Pasomyacne arenaria - 2 The complete score was just alive with birds. Quail eggs were very abundant. Also
