LIDCKER 1958 (Mar.30 cont.) area, esp along some creek bottoms. Med. size mt. range immediately to the east of highway. Saw 2 Ravens in this area. S of Aberhill it looks too thick again for meriani. Begin 2 rain when we got to Elmore. At Wildomar turnoff the valley is green + grassy + cultivated, thc hills are brushy, however & may have meriani on them. On the vic. of Murrieta the rd. descend into a broad green valley, no into nearly & seems very unlikely that meriani would be here. Continued on 71 toward Aguanga. 10 mi W of jet with Calif 79 saw a Marsh Hawk, Sp. Hawk & about 13 T- Vultures. 8 mi W of jet - could possibly be meriani habitat, but poor; begins to get hilly here with brush covered slopes. 2 mi. farther sage brush begins & habitat looks much better. At 4 mi. w of jet with 79 is Drifting Spy area. Her the veg. is thicker again with much Adenostoma etc. Beyond this the habitat opens up again. The area around the jet. looks good & meriani probably there. Also saw raven here. Continued 5 on Calif. 79. 3 mi. beyond jet (1 mi. from Aguanga) then we low hills & slopes which look suitable for meriani, however, the higher slope to the west & south do not. S of Aguanga the road begins to climb into boulder,
