LIDICKER 1958 Eastern San Diego County Trip March 28 - Apr. 6 with NIL. Mar. 28 Lv. Berkeley 1040. Took US 101 south toward Los Angeles. 2 mi. E Dariota (W of Sta. Barbara) we stopped to look at the ocean. Saw: Turkey Vultures - 4 (circling over ocean, & then continued inland) Surf Scoters - 15 W. Grebe - 20 num. Seals or Cormorants. Spent night in motel in Ventura. Mar. 29 Continued into LA & spent day visiting with Schroeter & Horinchi. Spent night with Schroeter in Granada Hill. Mar. 30 Continued S on US 101. Stopped at Anaheim to visit Cinerama & briefly visit Disneyland. About 1230 we headed E on Calif. 18 to Corona. Then turned S on Calif. 71. About 1 mi. N of Elan Dry Hot Spgs. turnoff there are a few areas which seem like they may have marrion in them, but in general the area is grassy & seems too thick. Just S of above turnoff - there are a few good looking areas on eroded slopes. 1 mi. S turnoff = good looking area on the flat. 3 mi. S " = fairly extensive & good-looking
